Situation

  • As part of my OpenClassrooms training, I worked on a simulated Power BI project called "Crédit Breton." This project involved analyzing financial data from a fictional banking institution to provide valuable insights into financial performance and customer management.
  • The project's context was to offer recommendations to improve Crédit Breton's profitability and operational efficiency through detailed data analysis.

Task

  • My role in this project was as a Data Analyst, responsible for developing an interactive Power BI dashboard to facilitate the analysis of financial data.
  • I was tasked with processing the data, creating clear visualizations, and providing actionable recommendations based on the insights gathered.

Action

  • I started by importing and cleaning the data in Power BI using Power Query, ensuring data consistency and quality. Then, I designed key visualizations such as spending trends, loan distribution, and customer segmentation.
  • The tools I used included Power BI for data analysis, DAX for advanced calculations, and SQL for some initial queries. Here is a link to the dashboard I developed: [insert link].

Result

  • Through this work, I was able to deliver accurate visualizations that revealed hidden trends in the data, such as customers at high risk of default and the most profitable banking products.
  • I also created a detailed report with several recommendations for improving sales performance, including quantifiable outcomes like a potential 15% reduction in customer risk through more targeted segmentation.

  • This project demonstrated how Power BI can speed up decision-making processes in a financial organization.

    Reflection

    • I learned how to better leverage advanced DAX functions and create complex visualizations while maintaining the clarity and impact of the insights.
    • If I had more time, I would have explored more advanced methods for predicting customer behavior using machine learning models integrated into Power BI.
    • My advice to someone doing a similar project would be to clearly define the objectives of each visualization in advance so that the final dashboard brings real value to the organization.
